Targeting automotive enthusiasts with a vehicle engineered to emphasize “driving pleasure above all else,” Porsche has just announced that it’s building a new limited-edition 911 Sport Classic that pays tribute to the celebrated 911 Carrera RS 2.7 of the early 1970s.

The retro-styled coupe is based on the Type-992 wide-body 911 Turbo S, so it logically shares the same twin-turbocharged 3.7-liter flat-six. With revised engine mapping, the rear-mounted mill produces 543 hp and 442 ft lbs of torque. However, unlike today’s 911 Turbo models that arrive with a standard automated dual-clutch PDK and all-wheel drive, the 911 Sport Classic will only be offered with a seven-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels.

WPP to merge MediaCom and Essence in radical Group M restructure - Campaign Middle East

Group M is merging MediaCom and Essence among a raft of changes at WPP’s media division.

EssenceMediacom will launch with 10,000 employees in 125 offices, handling close to $25bn (£19.7bn) in billings.

MediaCom, with around 8,000 staff, is significantly larger than Essence, which has about 2,000, and the merger will help the latter to scale its offering.

The rollout will begin in 2023 with a focus on major markets first, although the two agencies will operate separately in the UK due to client conflicts, which include Sky (a MediaCom client) and BT (an Essence client).

Nick Lawson, the global chief executive of MediaCom, will assume the same role at the helm of EssenceMediacom (the merged agency will drop the capital ‘C’ from the MediaCom name as part of the rebrand).

Kyoko Matsushita, the global chief executive of Essence, will be promoted to a new role as WPP’s CEO in Japan.

The overhaul means Group M will move from four to three flagship agencies: EssenceMediacom, Mindshare and Wavemaker.

Christian Juhl, the global CEO of Group M, said the “simplification” drive across the media division, which employs 42,000 and manages over $50bn of billings, is about driving growth, not cutting costs or jobs.
